The Tantra Massage Association was founded in 1984 by Andro Andreas Rothe of the Diamond Lotus Tantra Lounge in Berlin, Germany together with Martina Weiser of ANANDA Massage in Cologne. The official German name of the association is Tantramassage-Verband e.V.

According to the association's website, the mission of the association is "to ensure and improve the quality of tantric massage and to provide comprehensive support and representation for trained tantra masseurs (male and female) in all aspects of their professional work."
