The tansy beetle is a small green beetle with a metallic sheen. It received its name because the favored habitat is on riverbanks on tansy plants. Its range is currently restricted to the banks of the River Ouse in York, England. It was once quite widespread throughout Britain, but environmental factors (possibly due to introduced plants that have replaced the tansy plant) have contributed to a sharp decline in population. A recovery programme is underway, with research from the University of York.
