Tangla is a town and a town area committee in Darrang district in the Indian state of Assam. It was a businessplace (Jute, Beetlenuts, Rice etc.) and centre of culture in Darrang district but due to violant agitation by Bodos and Bodo insurgency since past 16 years, its glory had suffered badly.
A very appreciable aspect of Tangla is that it has a really diverse populated including Tea Tribes and Bodos, Rabhas etc. which leads to its tolerant and rich cuture.

As of 2001 India censusGRIndia, Tangla had a population of 17,313. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Tangla has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 81%, and female literacy is 70%. In Tangla, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
