Tampa Bay Championship
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Tampa Bay Championship is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour which is played annually at Westin Innisbrook Golf Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida.
The 2005 purse was $5,300,000, with $954,000 going to the winner. The tournament was founded in 2001 as the Tampa Bay Classic. It was originally an alternate event played the same week as the WGC-American Express Championship, but in 2006 it had a slot in the schedule to itself as the last full-field event before the Tour Championship. In 2007 it will move to March and will be a FedEx Cup event.
