Tamari, Ibaraki

Tamari (玉里村; -mura) is a village located in Niihari District, Ibaraki, Japan.

As of 2003, the village has an estimated population of 8618 and a density of 588.26 persons per km². The total area is 15.33 km².

The village has a large agricultural base, with rice and renkon (lotus roots) being the main crops.

As of 1 April 2006, Tamari-mura will cease to exist as a separate entity. A new town will be formed by the merger of Tamari-mura, Ogawa-machi and Minori and will be referred to as Omitama-shi (using elements of the original 3 town names).
