Talk:Tambon

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

  • Act on Conversion of Sanitary Area Status to Municipality, B.E. 2542 (1999) [1]
  • Local Administration Act, B.E. 2457 (1914) [2]

Sadly the link to the english versions does not work.

The following should be incorporated into the article once it gets sorted out:

  • According to [3] tesaban and sukhapiban are converted to standard tambon with the 1997 constitution.
  • According to [4] there are three types of tambon
    • Tambon municipality (Township): elevated to this status if have more than 7,000 citizen, population density 1,500 per km² or higher, high enough income and consent of population
    • Mueang Municipality (Town): population higher than 10,000, pop. density more than 3,000 per km², adequate income - or have the changwat administrative seat
    • Nakhon Municipality (City): More than 50,000 citizen, more than 3,000 citizen per km², adequate income
  • Sanitation District was the level below tambon, all 981 Sukapibans were elevated to Tambon by the Act Changing the Status of Sanitary District to Municipality, B.E. 2542, effective 24 February 1999 [5]

And more different tambon status: what is the Tambon Administrative Organization (Ongkarn Boriharn Suan Tambon = องค์การบริหารส่วนตำบล) and Supha Tambon (สภาตำบล)? andy 16:12, 11 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Can't we have a Thai scholar to edit this page. Having foreigners who don't fully understand Thai local administrative system only make the incorrect article and lead to confusion. User:dhanakorn 02 May 2005

I have tried my very best to put only those parts into the article which seem to be clear, while leaving those confusing points in the notes above. Thus I think the article can't be that far from the facts, but incomplete for sure. Of course I'd love to see an expert clear up those confusing points, but so far sadly noone showed up. If you have anything to correct - be bold. andy 11:17, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
