TAM Linhas Aéreas Flight 402 was a scheduled domestic flight from Congonhas Airport in Sao Paulo to Santos Dumont Airport in Rio de Janeiro was crashed in take-off that killed all 96 people.
The aircraft, a Fokker 100 took off from Congonhas Airport in Sao Paulo, Brazil. During climbing, the No.2 Engine suffered an uncommanded reverse thrust deployment, the aircraft yawed to the right, striking the building and crashed in a populated area killing all 96 people as well 3 on the ground.
The accident aircraft PT-MRK was painted in TAM Linhas Aereas special promotion livery - "Number 1" at that time instead of the standard TAM Linhas Aereas livery.
