[edit] Differences from the book and movies
- Xayide is set up from the beginning to be the Childlike Empress' sister, making them equals in terms of power. This enables her to become a formidable foe to Bastian, Atreyu and all Fantasians, and one of her main goals is to manipulate the real world into forgetting Fantasia.
- In the first half of the series, Atreyu's adventures in Fantasia run concurrently with Bastian's adventures in the real world as both sides fight Xayide in their own ways. This is unlike the book or the first movie where Bastian reads about Atreyu's adventures passively before he is brought into Fantasia himself.
