Tal Law

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Israel, Tal Law, a temporary law set to expire in 2007, is a special exemption to the required military service in the Israel Defense Forces. It is provided only for Israelis meeting very specific criteria; Haredi men and women born in the Land of Israel (Eretz Yisrael) that have lived there up until their 18th birthday. To qualify women must be married no later than a certain age, and men must continue to serve their country by studying in a yeshiva until the age of 21.
