Taketa (竹田市 Taketa-shi?) is a city located in Ōita Prefecture, Japan.

As of 2003, the city has an estimated population of 16,807 and the density of 83.69 persons per km². The total area is 200.83 km².

The city was founded on March 31, 1954.
