[edit] Background

Takeshi Sendo's background story isn't revealed until Mari, Fuji's assistant, went to Osaka to interview him and his family. His mother died few after childbirth, so he spent his first years with his father and grandmother. When Sendou was around four years old, his father (a firefighter) died in a terrible fire, and since then he was raised by his grandmother. She remarks on how Sendou was extremely proud of his father for giving his life defending people, and how he wanted to protect those around him.

Sendou's childhood was normal until he and his kindergarten friends were beaten up by older kids. Powerless to help his companions, he arrived home bruised and crying not for his injuries, but for his weakness. The next day, he and his cat Tora attacked the bullies, and armed with a baseball bat Sendou took revenge, or in his own words "he made justice".

As Sendou grew older, and much to his loving but severe grandmother's dismay, he became increasingly violent towards bullies and gangsters; the other children would go to him whenever they were under fire, and Sendou would eagerly take justice in his hands. By the time he was in highschool, Sendou was one of the most feared street fighters in Osaka, and by those days he joined the Naniwa gym and became a pro boxer.

[edit] Notable Fights

  • Takeshi Sendo vs Ippo Makunouchi
The Japanese Featherweight Rookie King Championship (6 rounder). Ippo won by KO, 0 minutes and 0 seconds in the 3rd round. This was the fight between the East(Ippo) and the West(Sendo) Rookie Kings. The fight was almost canceled due to the damage Ippo's fist sustained in the East Japan Rookie finals with Mashiba. The fight was a steady exchange of hard punches between the two. Sendo took a hit to his temple in the 2nd round and though he kept fighting, he lost consciousness. His trainer had to pull him back to his corner when the bell rang because he wouldn't stop punching. At the start of the third round, he doesn't get up and the ref calls the fight.
  • Takeshi Sendo vs Vorg Zangief
The Japanese Featherweight Championship match (10 rounder). After Eiji Date had reliquished the title, the #1 and #2 ranked fighters fought for the title. Sendo won by decision, making him the Japanese Featherweight Champion. Though the two were pretty even for most of the match, neither could Knockout the other. Sendo felt that the decision was unfair and told Vorg that a rematch with him was his top priority.
  • Takeshi Sendo vs Ippo Makunouchi II
This was Sendo's 3rd defense of the title (10 rounder). Ippo won by KO, 1 minute and 32 seconds in the 7th round.
