Taj Burrow is a well-known Australian surfer, born June 2, 1978 in Western Australia at Yallingup to Vance and Nancy Burrow. He began surfing at the age of seven in 1985 and discovered he was regular footed. He began to become better and win contests several years later, becoming recognized as a grom.By his second year of surfing, he entered his first contest in the Under 18 division in a local event. At only nine years old, he won the thing. And for the next eight years, he continued in similar form, winning just about every major accolade in Australian junior surfing, including Young Australian Sportsperson of the Year. He went professional in 1998, and has since been recognized as one of the best surfers in the world, even entering into the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame. He has not won a world title, thus, some say he is not the best surfer in the world, such being better than Kelly Slater, on paper, however some say he easily outmatches Kelly Slater and any other surfer in the world in creativity, mastering tricks including airs, 360s, and even 540s. He was born in Busselton, Australia, however, he now resides in Douarnenez, France in the meantime when not traveling the world.He had been seen at the beach with his dog named reef, his mom and dad and some of his surfing buddies which include top prosJoel Parkinson and gromsSean Fonte .He has written a book (Taj Burrow's Book of Hot Surfing) and has produced and partaken in his own surf videos such as Taj Burrow's Fair Bits. In a recent interview in spring 2006, Taj said his top goal was not to win a world title but to further himself and the surfing world.
TAJ BURROW a.k.a. TB was born on June 2, 1978, in Busselton, Western Australia, but currently resides in Yallingup, Western Australia. The natural footed surfer, who weighs in at 68 kilos (150 lbs) and stands 5’8 ft tall, is sponsored by Billabong, Von Zipper, Webber, Globe, Creatures of Leisure and Boost Mobile. His boards are shaped by Greg Webber, and he normally travels with five 5’11”s, a 6’1” and a 6’4”. Taj’s favorite waves in the world to surf are the Mentawais and home and he’s most amped on surfing when he’s doing airs. Taj is not married, but loves Claire, his French sweetheart. The tour-mates who inspire him most are Kelly, the Hobgoods, Parko, Andy Irons and Mick Fanning.
A BIT ABOUT HIM The fleet-footed Taj Burrow is an entertainer through and through and is classed as possibly the most enthralling to watch in the history of the sport. The diminutive natural-footer from Western Australia has been putting on world-class performances since he was a teenager, and his abilities continue to grow with age. The aerial master has inspired a generation of surfers who are now infiltrating the top ranks, and his effect on the development of new school surfing is immeasurable. With such a huge following Burrow has starred in three signature films including Sabotaj, Montaj, and TB’s Fair Bits. Although touted for many moons as a title contender, Burrow has yet to reach the consistency necessary to grab the coveted cup with both hands. Although suffering a nasty ankle injury towards the end of 2005 (as a result of attempting a huge aerial) a focused and healthy Burrow will, as always, keep the front runners honest and will go all the way in the hope of clasping his maiden world title victory.

2006 is his year, at the moment he is coming 4th with good results in all competitions, for Taj his broken ankle gave him time to think, and now his back, stronger, fitter, more motivated, he has started to realise it is now or never.
