Taitō (台東区 Taitō-ku?) is one of the 23 special wards of Tokyo, Japan. In English, it calls itself Taitō City.
As of 2005, the ward has an estimated population of 160,130 and a density of 15890 persons per km². The total area is 10.08 km².

Situated in the northeastern portion of the wards area of Tokyo, Taitō is surrounded by five other special wards: Chiyoda, Bunkyo, Arakawa, Sumida and Chūō.
The Tokyo National Museum in Taitō is at east longitude: 139°46′47″; north latitude 35°42′46.5″.

The ward was founded on March 15, 1947.
During the Edo period, the Yoshiwara licensed quarter was in what is now Taitō.
