Taina Elg

Taina Elg (born 9 March 1931 in Helsinki) is a Finnish actress and dancer.

Her earliest professional engagements were as a dancer with the Sadler's Wells and Marquis de Cuevas troupes. She was discovered in London by producer Edwin Knopf and was signed up by MGM to a seven-year contract. She made her Hollywood debut in 1955 in the epic film The Prodigal and partnered Gene Kelly in Les Girls (1957). Her other film appearances include Diane (1956), Gaby (1956), Imitation General (1958), Mission of Danger (1959), The Thirty-Nine Steps (1959), Watusi (1959), Le baccanti (1961), Hercules in New York (1970), Liebestraum (1991) and The Mirror Has Two Faces (1996).

She has also appeared on Broadway in Look to the Lilies, (1970), Uncle Vanya (1973), the musical Nine (1982-1984) and the 2004 revival of Cabaret. She was also in the national tour of Titanic, the musical, in 1998 and 1999.

She lives in New York with her husband, a former sociology professor.
