Taiga Fujimura
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Taiga Fujimura (藤村 大河 Fujimura Taiga?) is a fictional character from the Japanese visual novel and anime series Fate/stay night by TYPE-MOON.
Taiga is an English teacher at Shirō's school, homeroom instructor of Shirō's class and the supervising teacher for the Archery Dojo. She is widely called "Tiger", a nickname she dislikes ("Taiga" and "Tiger" are homophones in Japanese), though Shirou refers to her as "Fuji-nee" (older sister Fuji). After Kiritsugu died, Taiga became Shirō's guardian and has been living with him for several years. Taiga and Shirō are very close, and she regards him as a younger brother.
The seiyu for Taiga Fujimura is Miki Itou, and her English voice is provided by Julie Anne Taylor.[1]

[edit] History
Taiga's grandfather, Raiga Fujimura, is the Oyabun (組長 family head) of a yakuza group that operates in Fuyuki City. Like Shirō, she attended Homurabara Gakuen for her education, is from the same graduating class as Reikan Ryūdō, the older brother of Shirō's friend Issei, and Otoko Hotaruzuka, Shirō's employer. Taiga was idolized as the star of the kendō club, and was soon known as the "Tiger of Fuyuki" due to her prowess. While in school, she developed a crush on Kiritsugu Emiya, and frequently stopped by his home to see him; the two eventually became friends, and Taiga would often babysit Shirō when he was younger in Kiritsugu's absence.
[edit] Role
Taiga is largely a comic relief character; she is irresponsible, clumsy, and prone to sporadic bouts of extreme lethargy or zest. She lives with Shirō under the pretenses of being his caretaker, although she cannot cook and lacks many other domestic skills, relying on Shirō to maintain her welfare. Shirō, however, appreciates Taiga's company, and is more than happy to care for her. When Shirō is in any need of advise, however, Taiga can be depended on to be a confidant for his worries.
She also has a highly admires Sakura Matō, and makes no effort to conceal her desire to see them become a couple. In contrast, she holds disdain for Saber, who entered Shirō's home under suspicious circumstances; this opinion appears to be mutual between both women.
In Fate, Taiga challenges Saber to a kendō match, where she is defeated; Saber's skill earns Taiga's respect, and at the same time, Saber comes to recognize Taiga's role as Shirō's proper guardian. Following the end of the war, she and Shirō adopt Illyasviel von Einzbern, although Ilya and Taiga are frequently at odd ends with one another.
During Unlimited Blade Works, Taiga is abducted by Caster as a hostage to lure Shirō and Saber to the Ryūdō Temple. She is freed along with Saber after Caster's stronghold collapses. Taiga has no major part in Heaven's Feel.
