Tai Po Market (KCR)

Tai Po Market (Chinese: 大埔墟 Cantonese IPA: /tɑɪ22 bəʊ33 hœy55/; Jyutping: daai6 bou3 heoi1; Mandarin Pinyin: Dàbǔxū), located in Tai Po near Uptown Plaza, is a station of the KCR East Rail in the New Territories of Hong Kong. The station has 3 rails and 4 platforms. Platform 1 is for north bound trains to Lo Wu and platform 4 is for south bound trains to Kowloon while platform 2 and 3 uses the same rail and are reserved for peak hour traffic.

The Hong Kong Railway Museum is located a short distance from the Tai Po Market Station. The old Tai Po Market station building currently forms part of the museum. The museum also contains displays of a steam locomotive and carriages from older trains that were once used by the KCR.

  • Platform 1 & 2: East Rail to Lo Wu
  • Platform 3 & 4: East Rail to East Tsim Sha Tsui

The station consists of two island platforms, with platform 2 and 3 share the same centre track. This centre track serves as the terminus of some trains during the day, and the departure of some extra trains southbound during morning peak hours. North bound trains that arrive here after 11 p.m. may also use this track instead.

  • Free shuttle bus service is available to a few housing estate in Tai Po. (Suspends on public holidays.)
  • K12 - To Eightland Garden via Tai Po Tai Wo Road (Paid service available on public holidays.)
  • K14 - From Tai Po Tai Wo Road to Tai Po Market Station (Only available on morning peak hour.)
  • K17 - To Fu Shin Estate via Tai Po Centre
  • K18 - To Kwong Fuk Estate
