Talk:Taenia saginata

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I think that this parasite is actually called Taeniarhynchus saginata. It is not the same genus as the "pig tapeworm" Taenia solium. It should be noted however that CDC does not make this distinction in their classification.

This user appears to be correct: Taeniarhynchus saginata is a synonym for Taenia saginata, but it fails the google test by a large margin. Still, the pages that use both terms seem to prefer Taeniarhynchus. I couldn't find anything definitive, so for now, I think we should keep it with the more commonly used name. I made the new name a redirect to Taenia saginata, and we can change that if we find out for sure. Dave (talk) 06:36, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
