Tactile Dome

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tactile Dome is a geodesic dome containing a three-dimensional labyrinth which serves as an exhibit at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, California. The interior of the labyrinth is completely dark and must be navigated using only the sense of touch; the path is covered with an assortment of objects and textures that visitors feel as they explore the Dome.

The Tactile Dome was constructed in 1971 by Dr. August F. Coppola and Carl Day, and remains one of the Exploratorium's most popular exhibits.
