T & T Supermarket
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
T&T Supermarket (大統華; Pinyin: Dà tǔng huá) is a Chinese Canadian supermarket chain operating in Canada. It is headquartered in Richmond, British Columbia. It is a joint venture with the successful Taiwanese American chain 99 Ranch Market.
It began operations in 1993 at Metrotown Centre (Burnaby, British Columbia) and expanded into Alberta (1999 and 2002) and Ontario (2002, 2004).
The name of the chain is a combination of Tawa Supermarket Inc-99 Ranch Market of California and Tung Yee (Uni-President Enterprises Corp) of Taiwan. T&T supermarkets have also operated in the United States under the joint venture. The supermarket in Monterey Park, California has been converted to a 99 Ranch Market, while the one in Rowland Heights, California was converted to a 99 Ranch Market focusing on vegetarian and produce goods before subsequently being closed due to lack of parking (as the surrounding Diamond Plaza had become more successful than the market itself).
Operations are run by Cindy Lee, Chief Executive Officer, and employs 1,800.
