Tørring-Uldum municipality

Tørring-Uldum municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Vejle County on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 189 km², and has a total population of 12,519 (2005). Its mayor is Kirsten Terkelsen, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.

The site of its municipal council is the town of Uldum. The largest town in the municipality is Tørring.

Neighboring municipalities are Hedensted and Horsens to the east, Brædstrup and Nørre-Snede to the north, Give and Jelling to the west, and Vejle to the south.

By January 1, 2007 Tørring-Uldum municipality will, as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007), be merged with other municipalities. Most of Tørring-Uldum will be merged with Juelsminde municipality and Hedensted municipality to form a new Hedensted municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 565 km² and a total population of 56,508 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Midtjylland ("Mid-Jutland Region").

A smaller portion of Tørring-Uldum, however, will be split off and merged into the new Vejle municipality.
