Târgu Secuiesc (Hungarian: Kézdivásárhely, German: Szekler Neumarkt, Latin: Neoforum Siculorum) is a city in Covasna county, Romania.
It was first mentioned in 1407 as "Torjawasara". The words "târg" in Romanian and "vásárhely" in Hungarian mean market, showing that during the Middle Ages, Târgu Secuiesc used to be a market town.
[edit] Population
About 90% of the inhabitants are Szekely, and the Hungarian language has co-official status alongside Romanian, with signage, access to public administration, justice and education provided in Hungarian also.
