The original version of the article mentioned two Latin names: Syzygium javanicum and Eugenia javanica. According to the Germplasm Resources Information Network, these are two different species: S. javanicum and S. samarangense/E. javanica. As the former page mentions "tasteless fruits", and the latter page mentions the alternative names, I've assumed this article is about S. samarangense.
