Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Gorakhpur

The Syro-Malabar Catholic Diocese of Gorakhpur was erected by Pope John Paul II in 1984 through the Bull "Ex quo Divinum Concilium". Mar Thomas Thuruthimattam, CST was appointed bishop of Gorakhpur on July 15, 2006. He was ordained bishop on October 1, 2006 and assumed office on the same day.
