The Syretsko-Pecherska Line (Ukrainian: Сирецько-Печерська лінія; Russian: Сырецко-Печерская, Syretsko-Pecherskaya) is a line of the Kiev Metro, first opened in 1989. It extends the Metro southeast along the right bank of the Dnieper river before crossing it on a covered bridge, and then east from there. The northern section extends further northwestwards. The line is one of the newest and shows some post-independence decorative motifs. Technically it is also a great development, with most of the platforms longer and wider than older sections, and with some stations having provision for disabled access.

The Line shares the Obolon (№ 2) depot with the Kurenivsko-Chervonoarmiyska Line. Presently 27 five-carriage trains are assigned to it, although a dedicated depot is set to open at Kharkivske, to which the Syretsko-Pecherska Line trains will be transferred.

[edit] Extensions
On the far end of the Pechersky radius, a project that has been approved and finalised exists to bring the Line from its current terminus Boryspilska to the Darnytsia station of the Sviatoshynsko-Brovarska Line with seven stations, and one depot. This extension will connect the new Darnytsia Railway Station and also create a major redevelopment into the eastern districts of Kiev. The stations include: Chervony Khutir, Promyslova, Vulytsia Horbunova, Darnytsky Vokzal, Prazka, Leninhraska Ploscha and Darnytsia. At present only the station Chervony Khutir and the urgentely needed #3 depot Kharkivske are under construction, (to be opened in august 2007). The extension should be compleated by 2015.
On the opposite end of the line, on the Syretsky radius, another extension with the stations Mostiska, Vynohradar and Synioozerna are to open by 2020, along with a new depot. This extension will bring the line to the cities northwestern borders and connect the distant district of Vynohradar.
[edit] Ghost stations
One of the most notable facts that the line is known for is that, often with the lack of financing, but the need for continuing to extend the system, stations construction of which began, were deliberately missed for latter openings. This happened first with Pecherska which opened six years after the extension which carried it (Klovska-Vydubich}, Vyrlytsia was too opened approximately six months after Boryspilska. At present there are three stations that remain inbedded in the line, with various prospect of opening.
Lvivska Brama is the first of such, and presentely the station exists in a semi-completed state, although at present construction works are not carried out it is illuminated and appears on Metro maps, officially classed as a construction zone and is expected to open by 2015, should a proper escalator tunnel be built there. Telychka is a station that exists and does not. Officially it is a derelict site that is sealed off completely, with no illumination and has remained such since the tunnels were built back in 1991. It was not opened because there was no need for it, and the station is located on the right bank of the Dnieper River, next an abandoned industrial zone. There is however a re-development plan propose of the area and as the station is sub-surface, and structurally compleate, it will not be difficult to compleate and open the station should a need arise. The last station does not exists as such, which was originally planned before teh Syretsky radius was began, but open the construction of the stretch from Lukianivska to Dorohozhychi it was not even started. Only a provision was left which can be seen by attentive passengers from the train, that instead of the concrete the tunnel becomes cast iron. The project name for the station is Vulytsia Hertsena. In terms of when it will be opened, then never is fair to say, as the difficulty in building a deep level station on an existing stretch is not only constly, but also (unless its a transfer stations) impractical. If that should happen in will only be after all of the other projects of the Kiev Metro are completed, and that includes the Podilsko-Voskresenska and Livoberezhna Lines, which will not be until 2025 at least.
[edit] Other projects
Other projects include general upgrade of stations, but in particular buiding a second entrance on the Druzhby Narodiv and a complex repair of Lukianivska which suffers from hydroisolation problems.
