Synthol

Synthol is a slang term for a liquid substance, usually a mixture of oils, used by a few bodybuilders to increase the apparent size of some muscles. The effects of synthol are purely and solely cosmetic——Synthol does not increase actual muscle size or strength. It is injected either under the skin or between the muscle fibers. There is some anecdotal evidence that it does promote future muscle growth by "making space" between groups of muscle fibers allowing them to fill the space with new muscle while the oil is reabsorbed into the body^{[citation needed]}. These claims are unsubstantiated so far.
