"Symptoms of True Love" is the second single from Tracie Spencer's self-titled debut album. The single was released in 1988. It was written by Irmgard Klarmann and Felix Weber. Unlike her first single (which was a ballad), this song was an uptempo club/dance track. The theme of the song focuses on Tracie discovering that she is suffering from "symptoms of true love" and lists the causes. After this single was released, the third and final single from her debut album, "Imagine" (a cover of John Lennon's "Imagine"), was released in early-1989.

"Symptoms of True Love" was Tracie's first track that was released onto The Billboard Hot 100. It reached #38 on that chart. It did better on the R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart, where it hit #11.

The music video for "Symptoms of True Love" was filmed and released in 1988. The video itself is rather simple, as it shows Tracie and a group of friends dancing and grooving along to the song. The video takes place on a comic book-type set.
