[edit] Jimmy Page, Symbols of 112px

Nobody knows what "ZoSo" symbolizes for sure. Of the approximate six billion people on this earth, no one can be certain (with the exception of Jimmy Page himself). There are hundreds-probably thousands of ideas, suggestions, guesses, and theories to what its true meaning is. There is no way to prove a theory before actually consulting with Jimmy himself. The symbol appears on the fourth album of Led Zeppelin, along with three other symbols, each with its own meaning. Each band member, chose a symbol to describe them.

[edit] Bonzo's Symbol

John Bonham's symbol is three interlocking circles meaning trilogy, man, woman, child. Although it has been said that it was also the logo of one of his favorite beers- Ballantine.

[edit] Jonesy's Symbol

John Paul Jones's symbol is three ovals interlocking a circle and is from the same era thought to represent unity and family. It was also thought to represent a person who is confident and competent because it was difficult to draw accurately.

[edit] Percy's Symbol

Robert Plant's symbol is found to be from an old book called, "The Sacred Symbols of Mu." Robert exclaims, "My symbol was drawn from the ancient Mu civilization, which existed about 15,000 years ago as part of a lost continent somewhere in the Pacific Ocean between China and Mexico. All sorts of things can be tied in with the Mu civilization, including the Easter Island effigies. These Mu people left stone tablets with their symbols into them all over the place-in Mexico, Egypt, Ethiopia, China, India, and some other places, all dating back from the same time period. The feather, a symbol on which all sorts of philosophies have been based on and which also has a very interesting heritage. For instance, it represents courage to many Red Indian tribes...I like to lay down the truth...No bullshit. That's what the feather in the circle is all about."

This is also the feather of Ma'at, the Egyptian goddess of justice and fairness, and is the emblem of a writer (i.e. song lyrics?).

[edit] Pagey's Mystery Symbol

Several theories have accumulated throughout the years since Zeppelin's fourth album, , was released. It is almost certain that the whole symbol is actually more than one symbol combined. Robert Plant stated that in 1975 Jimmy pulled him aside and said, "'...I'm only going to tell you this once..' then told me the meaning of his symbol. Since then i've forgotten what he said, and now Pagey won't tell me!"

Also refer to The Book of Signs by Rudolf Koch (published by The Limited Editions Club, London, 1930) - pages 32 and 33 have John Paul Jones and John Bonham's symbols. Also, Sandy Denny's symbol (who sings in Zeppelin's "Battle of Evermore"), can be found on page 5.
