Sylviane Diouf

Sylviane Diouf is a Senegalese author and historian. Diouf received a doctorate from the University of Paris and taught at the University of Libreville. She has appeared on PBS and the American Broadcasting Company. Her Servants of Allah: African Muslims Enslaved in the Americas (New York University Press, 1998) received awards. It has also raised notice for its study of Islam in the Americas from the sixteenth to nineteenth centuries. She has written several other works and co-edits In Motion: The African-American Migration experience.
