Sylvia Kierkegaard

Sylvia Mercado Kierkegaard is one of the world’s leading authorities in computer law. Her articles are widely published in top law and IT journals and books. She covers a wide range of topics, such as comparative contract law, alternative dispute resolution, intellectual property rights, EU law, privacy, electronic commerce and data protection. Her work is frequently cited in court judgements, and research papers. She has published books and over 2000 articles in journals, books, newspapers and magazines.

She is a frequent speaker in international conferences, editor-in-chief of the Journal of International Commercial Law and Technology, editor of two other international law journals, editorial board member of several law journals, correspondent for Computer Law and Security Report (Oxford-Elsevier)[1] - the world’s number one computer law journal, and conference- journal reviewer for numerous journals[2] and conferences.

She is a recipient of two national journalism awards. She was educated in Manila, England, US, Denmark and Netherlands. She has several postgraduate educations in Law, Business, Economics, Theology and Asian Studies, which she achieved with distinction. She has the distinction of finishing with the highest grade ever in the history of Danish education: the grade equivalent of Summa Cum Laude in the postgraduate program and completing the 2 year program in one year.[3]

Sylvia Kierkegaard is also known for organising successful international legal conferences and for espousing human rights and press freedom. She is also the President of the International Association of IT Lawyers (IAITL).
