[edit] The Love of God

Then at 27 years of age, it was when he cut open to the heart of raja Dalpath Rai, the commander of the warring Bangla armies, he went into trance after sighting on rajah's heart the impression of the idol the rajah worshipped. If an icon can affect one's heart with this deep an intense, what has to be the magnitude of the eternal truth, The God Himself.

The spiritual trance remained for twelve consecutive years. The first seven went with least food intake but the remainder five he was fed somewhat, yet not a single of the five daily prayers went missed even once the whole of the dozen years. His wife recounts and the Mahdavia records state.

That period of spiritual state of sub-consciousness had passed in Jaunpur. Since then he had gained an understanding of Koranic knowledge, out of the love of God, that he explained the meaning of Koranic versus solely from the perspective of God's love and struggle for nearness to Him. The effect of his sermons had become so absorbing that people listening to him began heedless about worldliness and its greed. People left their homes, posts and positions and even families to join his discipline.

[edit] Back in India

After returning back to India, and by 903 Hijra, he had proceeded to Ahmedabad in Gujarat province. Where once more he declared his Mahdi-ship. Again, many people recognized him as the promised one yet many others kept it avoided.

All this while people far and wide kept hearing that The Saint from Jaunpur has announced being the The Promised Mahdi. Many among those who knew him readily had themselves having the feeling within them that this person has to be the saviour. The religion Islam though had spread vastly by fifteenth century C.E. , no one could deny the fact the spirit of faith went more sparser among Muslim populace. To the extent, as it is recorded, none but those deeply occupied with it - The MAJDHOOBEEN only contained faith, as was faith meant to be entertained.

The news undoubtedly had reached even penetrating Persia and Arabia as well since the Mahdavia fellowship had absorbed men from these nations and such names occur in their literatures, so as to hint.

As a course of nature opposition to the thought also developed. Many scholars at the courts of the numerous kingdoms scattered prepared to suppress the growing public interest in the new Mahdi. They started searching faults in the practice and ideology presented by the school of Mahdi - Syed Mohammad.

The Mahdi all he did, that was in discord with the opposing scholars, was to invite towards total devotion & love of God. Something that had diminished among worldly Muslims, and so called learned masters & scholars of faith, finding comfort in the courts of kings and in acquired and preserved wealth and property. Satisfied by the livelihood of this world as against the teachings and morals of Islam and its spirit.

Presenting the Quranic verses like XII:108 & XVII:72 he was inviting the creation towards the vision of their Lord following in the steps Prophet. Similarly, explaining many versus of Quran which denounce the love of worldly life, he enforced renunciation of engaging in affairs of this world and the wordly and made TARK E DUNIYA obligatory on all believers of Quran and Mohammad. Also, migration, company of true & devoted lovers of God, total trust and reliance on God and only that, round the clock remembrance of God with the intention of achieving His love and thus reaching the utmost, i.e; HIS VISION.

All that he demanded of the subjects of His Majesty's Kingdom required total indifference to getting involved in any of the wants and lust of this world, all that what the worldly Muslim scholars and courtiers wanted was worldly pomp & prestige. They had never sought about such requirements of faith earlier and never had found such practice of religion in their books. They and any of the students of superficial understanding caught him on each and every of his move. Every now and then queries and questionnaire about religion, faith, and jurisprudence presented to him, by those who wished to extinguish the fire of Godly he set, and also by those who wanted to distinguish the truth. Thus many disregarded him as the Mahdi so did their followers and flocks. Nevertheless, those who had found what they were searching for verified the truth and testified to be his followers to be lead to their God.

Politics was not this Mahdi's play. Nor was any worldy rule, nor riches and treasures, never the comforts of this world to distribute. Yet he did distribute wealth and jewels and gems, actually, with both his hands, and did spread justice and judgement in the land he remained, wheresoever. For long the mahdavis have been remembered in Indian history as mark of purity and piety.

The Mahdavis maintain, all the requirements of The Promised Mahdi in the authentic prophetic traditions have actually been fulfilled. Physically as well as symbolically. Anyone who have questioned have been aptly answered to, convincingly and thoroughly. For the question of the whole world should follow (accept or submit to) the mahdi, as required in one of the much commemorated traditions, the Mahdi had answered to those questioning scholars. Summarized: He asked, "as per (the divine) law who would accept and follow the Mahdi, the (eternal) KAFIREEN or MO'MINEEN"? The ULEMA (Arabic: scholars or those who carry knowledge) replied, obviously they have to be the eternal believers (as per the sunna, QADR or fate have been destined since sempiternity by Allah). Syed Mohammad concluded by answering, then all of those who were eternally destined as believers have accepted and believed and others such to come would keep believing too. The Mahdavia scholars further clarify that although the question had been answered by Mahdi at once to the impeaching scholars, any student of Islamic science must know that the question itself was an invalid one and had been fixed cunningly. Since any report stating whole of the nations coming under one banner of Islam or Mahdi and everyone believing would contradict Quranic verses (examples: V:48; VI:35; XVI:93; XLII:8 & V:14).

[edit] The third & final announcement

In the year 905 hijra, at Bardli in Gujarat he finally declared the 'peremptory proclamation'. He claimed that every follower of Islam was obliged to accept him as the Promised Mahdi.
