Sydenham Institute of Management Studies, Research and Entrepreneurship Education (SIMSREE) was officially established in 1983 as the Government of Maharashtra's flagship institute for education in business. The stepping stone which lead to the birth of this prestigious management institute was laid long back in the year 1976, when Sydenham College started a two year full time course in Business Management and a separate department of Management & Entrepreneurship was set up. The institute is recognised for its quality of research and faculty and features in the top institutes providing quality post-graduate business education in India.

The institute is located in the heart of the business district within Mumbai, the commercial and financial capital of India. This helps the institute to not only attract top businesses for placement but also get important visiting faculty into its premises.

At present the institute offers two full-time courses MMS (Masters in Management Science) and PGDBM (Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management), with a student intake of 120 per year. The courses are recognised by AICTE, New Delhi. It attracts top rank holders of the Common Entrance Test (CET), Maharashtra and its equivalent national level tests like CAT, ATMA, JMET and MAT. The MMS course is affiliated to the University of Mumbai/ University of Bombay.

The institute is housed within the Sydenham Campus on B Road, Churchgate, Mumbai.
It has one of the best libraries on business education in the country. This vast reservoir of knowledge is the source of constant value addition to the students. Salient features of the library are:
