Swift & Company

Swift & Company is a meat packaging company founded by Gustavus Franklin Swift. It is based in Greeley, Colorado. In December 2006, the company’s six meat-packing facilities in Colorado, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Iowa, and Minnesota were raided by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials, resulting in the arrests of 1,282 illegal immigrants from Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Peru, Laos, Sudan, and Ethiopia, after a three-year investigation into identity theft.

Swift & Co.’s competitors include Cargill, Smithfield Packing Company, and Tyson Foods.
