SwiftIRC

SwiftIRC is an IRC network that was formerly called FluxIRC. After a split of the netadmins, it was decided to branch off and split up the network, forming SwiftIRC. FluxIRC was started in an attempt to make a smaller IRC network for teens to hang out and talk about gaming, and didn't have much growth potential until it became SwiftSwitch's default server.
Right now SwiftIRC houses around 6000+ users at peak times, and is still growing slowly.

The network was originally called FluxIRC, and ran a version of QuakeIRCd. The date that FluxIRC was founded was around Feb 2005. After some disputes between key members of staff, a considerable delink occurred. The delinking parties took the FluxIRC name with them, yet claimed little or none of the network user base. After the delink, a number of improvements were made to the staff hierarchy and the network infrastructure. The network was renamed to SwiftIRC on April 22nd 2005, and this has thus been stated as the network's founding date. To this date, SwiftIRC is still using services databases that date back to FluxIRC, and has an expected user peak of over 9000 users during the weekends.

This main network user base is derived around a propriatary IRC client built in to the RuneScape client SwiftSwitch. While many of the channels focus around RuneScape the network is more for Technology, along with General chatting. All users are welcome.
