Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007

Sweden will choose their entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 using the national final format Melodifestivalen 2007, which will consist of four semi-finals on 3 February, 10 February, 17 February, 25 February; a second chance round on 3 March; and the final which will take place on 10 March. SVT, the Swedish broadcaster has already announced the details and the participants for this competition. Along with the submitted song, there are still 4 wildcard entries that have not been revealed yet. The method of selection remains the same in the semi-finals with 8 songs competing in each selection and the 2 top placed entries securing a spot in the final and the 3rd and 4th place entries earning a second chance. The winner will be chosen by regional juries (50%) and televoting (50%). The second chance round will be live this year with competitors going up against each other for the last two spots in the final.
Some familiar faces have returned to Melodifestivalen, among them are Eurovision 1989 representative Tommy Nilsson, 1966 representative Svante Thuresson, 2003 representative Jessica Andersson, and 1996 representative Nanne Grönvall. Andreas Lundstedt also went to Eurovision in 2006 for Switzerland.
So far Nanne Grönvall seems to be the big favourite to win the competition because of the Swedish disappointment in the 2005 selection and the fact that her performance will be the most emotional because of her fight with cancer this past year.
