NOTE: This is just copy and paste from a standard RfA template, then edited. Some stuff here is messed up due to that, like the vote summary was 1/0/0 cause I hadn't deleted that yet, and some of the user name links may be wrong. Please just focus on the content of my submissions.

Swatjester (talk • contribs) – Nomination: I feel that I should be granted adminstratorship for the furthering of Wikipedia's article integrity. I know the current batch of admins are overworked by the amount of backlogged things they have to deal with: AfD's, mediations, Copyvio, vandalism, etc...it's amazing they even have time to work on articles. I want to help contribute with more effectiveness than I have been. As noted on my user page, I mainly work on military related and law enforcement related articles where my experience can be directly applied to improve wikipedia. I expect that this is where I'll be spending much of my time as an administrator (though obviously not in articles I'm involved with editing), especially helping the WikiProject Military, WikiProject Terrorism, and the like. I firmly firmly firmly(!!!!) ascribe to the belief of WP:NPA, which I feel is overwhelmingly important to an administrator. I also ascribe to the policy of WP:AGF.⇒ SWATJester Ready Aim Fire!

Questions for the candidate
Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia in this capacity. Please take the time to answer a few generic questions to provide guidance for voters:
- 1. What sysop chores, if any, would you anticipate helping with? Please check out Category:Wikipedia backlog, and read the page about administrators and the administrators' reading list.
- A. I expect mostly to help out with enforcing the 3RR on the noticeboard, which I feel has become backlogged. I'll also probably spend time monitoring the AIV noticeboard, and help close out AfD's. Other stuff, well, I'll just come to it as I see it. I'd like to do copyvios too, but I'd probably hold off until I've got more experience on it.
- 2. Of your articles or contributions to Wikipedia, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- A. I think I do much more grammatical editing than content editing. Therefore, I could say I'm pleased about every article I've copyedited. However that'd be a copout ;). I'm probably most proud of the mediation work I've done on Neuro-linguistic programming, especially the talk page. I've also created the RSTA page, which I'm proud of although it needs more work done to it to get to "good" status. I've been working on cleaning out the WP:3O list. I made significant headway in clearing out the backlog, and I'll be monitoring that section more in the future. When I do that, I feel that I'm directly increasing the efficiency of wikipedia, by ending a backlog, and I'm pleased about that.
- 3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- A. I have when I first started on Wikipedia. (long story follows, in the interest of full disclosure and honesty) I became involved in a revert war on the 2003 Invasion of Iraq entry. There was an anonymous editor who I felt was pushing POV. It was a touchy subject for me due to my involvement in the war, and I felt (erroneously I now know) that ensuring that the correct information was shown was more important than a 3RR block on myself. I violated the 3RR in the process, though so did the anon. I was told by User:Cyde that what I did was wrong. I took a step back and realized that, then took it to the talk page. I still felt I was in the right, and I stayed bold on the talk page, making sure I stayed within the bounds of proper wikiquette. That's my only major editing conflict that I can think of. Oh, and I'm a mediator on the NLP conflict (linked in the prior question), but not involved in the editing conflict itself, just as a mediator. So, how do I deal with it? Well, I learned from my first mistake, that the best thing to do when other users stress me out, is to log out of my computer, crack open a beer, play some guitar, and relax until I can approach it with a calm and focused attitude. I feel that attitude has served immensely towards calming down the seemingly unapproachable NLP conflict.
