Swanston, Edinburgh
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Swanston is an area of Edinburgh, Scotland. It is a small village and residential district, lying just south of the Edinburgh City Bypass and five miles from the city centre. The name is said to derive from Sweyn's Town, after an unrecorded Norseman.
Robert Louis Stevenson spent several summers there in the 1870s, and set his novel St. Ives in the village.
