Swansea Enterprise Park

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Swansea Enterprise Park (Welsh: Parc Anturiaeth Abertawe) in Swansea, was the first enterprise zone in the United Kingdom, and the largest. The designated area covers parts of the Llansamlet and Morriston wards in the Lower Swansea valley, Wales. Originally it was named the Swansea Enterprise Zone.

For many years this was a post industrial wasteland until regeneration in the 1980s. The regeneration has been a great success in attracting many light industries, offices and retail outlets to Swansea. Together with the adjacent Morfa retail park in Landore and the recently designated Swansea Vale regeneration area to the north it forms the largest out of town retail park in the UK.

Almost hidden in the heart of the enterprise park is a park with a large lake at the centre. This park is popular with the enterprise park based workers for lunchtime relaxation. Boating and fishing are a popular pastimes on the lake. A footpath encircles the lake that is popular with morning joggers.
