Swanpool
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Swanpool is a small lake that is dammed up behind the beach of the same name in Falmouth, Cornwall, England.
It is rumored that during World War II, a bomber attempting to crash land on the beach ended up in the lake. In the 70s a SeaKing search and rescue helicopter crashed on to the beach and was lifted away by a much larger helicopter. Another victim of the beach is the "Ben Asdale", a trawler that ran aground there when its engines and anchor gave way in a storm.
