Swanline is the brand name of a local rail service that operates on the South Wales Main Line between Swansea and Cardiff, south Wales. The service began to operate in the late 1980s, after the construction of a number of new local stations along the South Wales Main Line. It was beset with reliability and punctuality problems in its early years but has seen very gradual improvements.
Passenger services are provided by Arriva Trains Wales using mainly dedicated local trains and by occasional trains operating between Swansea and Manchester.
