Swampoodle

Swampoodle was also the name of a neighborhood in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The name "Swampoodle" is now rarely used to describe this area. Currently, it's referred to as the "Allegheny West" section of North Philadelphia.

Swampoodle is a name for the neighborhood in the area around Union Station (Washington, D.C.) in Washington, D.C. This area was previously the home to a thriving Irish community. Gonzaga College High School is located here. Swampoodle is an archaic name; Currently, most of the neighborhood is part of the area known as NoMa.

The current boundaries of Swampoodle are, roughly, 2nd Street NW to the west, Massachusetts Avenue to the north, and Louisiana Avenue NE and the grounds of the U.S. Capitol to the southeast.

Swampoodle was also the home of the Swampoodle Grounds, which was the home of the Washington Nationals baseball club from 1886 to 1889.
