Sven Larsen

Sven Larsen is an 18-year veteran of the publishing and media world, having worked at several companies including Penguin Books, the Time Warner Book Group and Marvel Comics. Larsen's vast experience spans sales, publicity, licensing and marketing in the book and periodical markets. At Penguin, Larsen oversaw marketing and sales for both the Financial Times and The Economist. And during his time at both Penguin and Time Warner, Larsen oversaw international marketing campaigns for such well-known authors as David Sedaris, Garrison Keillor, Stephen King, Patricia Cornwall and Tom Clancy.
Prior to entering the book-publishing field, Larsen was Director of Marketing and Creative Services at Marvel Comics. Larsen designed the marketing campaign for the company's X-Men launch, which became the best selling comic ever published with over 8 million copies sold, and was also part of the team that took Marvel public.
In February 2005, he was named Associate Publisher of Cracked Magazine. In November 2005, Larsen transferred from Cracked to become Chief Operating Officer of Teshkeel Media Group (a major investor in Cracked headquartered in Kuwait). There Larsen oversaw the startup of the company's publishing and online operations as well as the all aspects of the company's operations.
In December 2006, he returned to New York City to launch, Teshkeel Media Group Inc., the company's US based licensing and animation arm. In addition to running all aspects of the day to day operations of TMG Inc., Larsen continues to oversee Arab and English language publishing of Marvel, DC and Archie Comics, Cartoon Network and Jetix magazines, and the development of Teshkeel's original media properties. The first of these, an Islamic culture based superhero concept called The 99 debuted in June 2006 and has received worlwide acclaim as well as coverage from such prestigious outlets as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Le Monde.
