[edit] About Suzanne Collins
Suzanne started her career in 1991 by writing for children's television shows. For Nickelodeon, she worked on several television shows, including Clarissa Explains It All, The Mystery Files of Shelby Woo, Little Bear and Oswald the Octopus. She also helped on Clifford's Puppy Days.
When she met a man named James Proimos working on a Kids WB show called Generation O!, she was inspired to write children's books. The inspiration for Gregor the Overlander came from Alice in Wonderland, when she was thinking about how one was more likely to fall down a manhole than a rabbit hole, and would most likely find something other than a tea party.[1]
Suzanne also has a rhyming picture book illustrated by Mike Lester entitled When Charlie McButton Lost Power. She has also announced the title of the fifth book in the Underland Chronicles, officially entitled Gregor and the Code of Claw. It is due out in 2007.
Trained as a psychologist, she has also worked as Clinical Director of Services for Adults with Learning Disabilities, Cambridge Health Authority.
She now lives in Connecticut with her family along with a pair of feral kittens they adopted.
