Suzaku Avenue

In ancient Japan, Imperial capitals were designed in a grid pattern. Suzaku Avenue, or Suzaku Boulevard, was the name given of street leading to the Imperial palace from the south. The word "Suzaku", refers to the God of the South, who was said to appear in the form of a bird.
