Surinder Shinda is considered as one of the best singers Punjab has ever produced[citation needed]. Born Surinder Hunjan, into a Tarkhan family in Punjab he has had numerous hit songs including 'Putt Jattan De', 'Truck Billiya', 'Balbiro Bhabhi' and 'Kaher Singh Di Mout'. He also has a film career and has made appearances in Punjabi films such as 'Putt Jattan De' and 'Uccha Dar Babbe Nanak Da'

Surinder Shinda is also noted to have been a colleague of renowned Punjabi singer Kuldeep Manak. He has also taught music to the late Amar Singh Chamkila, Gill Hardeep and his son, Maninder.

Today Shinda is mainly involved in working with the younger artists and produces vocals for them to apply to their music. Although working with many new talents his songs have had little success or recognition. His latest album 'Putt Sardaran De' however had become a success in the punjabi music market.
