Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) is the peak surf lifesaving organisation in Australia. It is federal in structure, comprised of 303 local surf lifesaving clubs, 17 regional branches in Queensland and New South Wales, and 7 individual state and territory subdivisions. With more than 111,364 members, of whom more than 34,000 actively patrol over 400 beaches, SLSA is one of the largest volunteer organisations in Australia. It is also responsible for the management and organisation of Australia's engagement in competitive surf sport. It is one of the largest volunteer organisations based in the country, with 24,968 active members patrolling more than 400 beaches. SLSA is also responsible for managing competitive surf sport in Australia, arranging events like The Coolangatta Gold.
SLSA is a foundation member of the International Life Saving Federation (ILS)
