* A campus-wide wireless computing environment including a hard-wired connection to and from the teacher's housing compound. * An extensive variety of paid online resources including periodicals for indivdual and group research. * A comprehensive online virtual school component to supplement regular classroom instruction: (http://www.sisedu.net/eschool). * A fast broadband Internet connection to all of the school’s over 400 computers. * A technologically advanced teaching staff with the skills to prepare students for the academic challenges that await them on the university and professional levels.
SIS Technology Mission Statement Surabaya International School's technology mission is to interface technology with the educational process by providing the tools and environment that allows all members of the school community optimum personal and educational growth through the infusion of appropriate technology into daily school learning.

[edit] Curriculum
The curriculum and materials are U.S. with modifications so that all students may return to their own countries or join other international schools with a minimum of academic displacement. The Western Association of Schools and Colleges accredits the School.
Surabaya International School is the only school in Surabaya certified by an accrediting agency of the United States. For highly motivated students, SIS offers the competitive Advanced Placement (AP) program. Success in this program could provide students with "advanced standing" at university, thus saving parents as much as one year's tuition.

Surabaya International School A one-to-one wireless laptop school
SIS opened its current campus in 1995, as a purpose built school located in a new housing and recreation development on the western side of Surabaya, about 15 kilometers (or a 30 minute drive) from the central business district.
The attractive and pleasant buildings have 48 classrooms with semi-private teacher's offices and storage facilities. Among the classrooms there are 4 computer labs, 3 science labs, demonstration rooms, "Little Theater," and a photography lab.
There is a spacious and well supplied library that is located as an integral part of the academic program, and which is fully automated using the latest software programs. The school has approximately 175 computers available for student and faculty use, located in the library, computer labs and classrooms.
SIS is one of Indonesia's first wireless, laptop schools. As part of this program, all areas of the campus are covered with a wireless network signal using multiple layers of security encryption.
Other facilities include a big first class gymnasium with a climbing wall and stage, a fitness center, a 50-meter Olympic size swimming pool, a full size track (unfinished surface) and soccer field, elementary playgrounds, a spacious and well stocked library, teacher's lounge and work rooms, and a Food Court. The building's capacity is approximately 600 students, which means there is currently plenty of space available for special uses and future growth in enrollment.

Philosophy The Surabaya International School (SIS) Physical Education Department believes that the unique learning opportunities of Physical Education should allow all students to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes which will enable them to enhance their quality of life through active living- a way of life that values physical activity as an essential component. In keeping with this philosophy, the goals of the program reflect the three areas of human development: the psychomotor, the cognitive and the affective. Combined, these goals highlight SIS's interest in an integrated, well-balanced Physical Education program for students.
