Support our troops

"Support our troops" is a political slogan commonly used in the United States and in Canada in reference to the military of the United States. It is sometimes seen as over-generalizing complex issues, as for example an individual may support members in the military of a state, but not the foreign policy that state may be currently engaged in, while others believe that it is a valid expression of patriotism. The slogan has been used very frequently during the Iraq war since 2003 and the slogan has been imprinted onto yellow ribbons in the form of bumper stickers which have been sold in the millions in the past two to three years.

It is seen by some as a guilty over-reaction to the way troops were treated by civilians following the Vietnam War.
