Supply (StarCraft)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In StarCraft, each player has two Supply counters- the first refers to the amount of supply being consumed by the player's units and the second refers to the amount of total supply available. The difference in the two numbers is the amount of supply that is still available for constructing additional units. Once the difference in the two numbers reaches zero, a player will not be able to construct any additional units. Hidden is a 200 point Supply max, the limit beyond which your production structures can no longer turn out units no matter how many supply production objects you create.
All units in StarCraft except for the Zerg Overlord require 0.5 (for Zerglings and Scourge only) to 8 (for Carriers, Battlecruisers, and nukes). The Overlord is a disguised supply production object.
The supply production object for each race is as follows: Zerg- Overlord Terran- Supply Depot Protoss- Pylon Each supply production object grants 8 additional points of supply.
A similar concept can be found in other strategy games, such as the Warcraft series and the Command and Conquer series.
