The Supox Utricularia are a fictional race of beings featured in the sci-fi Star Control computer game series.
They make their debut in Star Control 2 as allies of the Utwig and providers of the Ultron. In Star Control 3 they are part of the expedition but their colony ships are destroyed, likely by the Orz.
The Supox are a race of kind, sentient plant creatures who evolved from a species of semi-mobile symbionts. The complete race's name is Supox utricularia. The Supox are aware of how unlikely their evolutionary path as intelligent plants appears, and consider this proof of their divine origin.
The Supox have always been symbionts. During their long evolutionary path they forged symbiotic corelations with several races of animals on their homeworld and their relationship with the Utwig reflects this as well. The Supox look to the Utwig for guidance, and use the Utwig culture as a model for their own. In return, they give the Utwig the emotional support they need.
[edit] Supox Blade
The slender form of the Blade makes it seem like blade of grass but this Blade has a sting to it. Not an easy ship to master, the Blade offers extreme maneuverability, not to mention several unique stunts. Using its rapid-firing sprout gun in quick dart-in-dart-out or strafing runs, a competent Blade pilot can pose a threat to many a bigger ship. On the down side, the Blade has absolutely no staying power and must always rely on evasiveness. For the Blade, a frontal assault on any ship is a suicidal maneuver. The rapid firing Sprout Gun aids in hit-and-run tactics with its fast rate and low energy consumption.
