Super Derby

The Super Derby is a race for thoroughbred horses held every year at Louisiana Downs in Bossier City, Louisiana. The Derby is open to horses, age three, able to race one and 1/8 miles on the dirt and offers a purse of $500,000. A Grade II event, it's the richest race held at Louisiana Downs.
This race began in October of 1980 with a win by Temperence Hill, who was that year's Belmont Stakes winner. Tiznow, Sunday Silence and Alysheba have won the Super Derby.
